Opportunity Description

Global Health Uganda (GHU) invites applications for one Study Medical Officer position. The officer will provide medical and clinical oversight for participants in the ACROBAT Newborns study at Kawempe National Referral Hospital, ensuring participant safety and supporting study implementation in accordance with Good Clinical Practice, ethical requirements and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include screening and recruiting eligible patients, providing emergency and continuous medical care, explaining study procedures and obtaining consent, collecting and coordinating study samples, documenting and reporting adverse and serious adverse events, ensuring participant safety and privacy, participating in routine clinical care, attending weekly study meetings and providing day-to-day supervision of site study staff. Reports to the Study Coordinator.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery from a recognized university
Fully registered with UMDPC with an APL
Good clinical skills and experience working with children
Minimum 2 years of clinical-practice experience; completed Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Research Ethics training, including Human Subject Protection (HSP), with valid certificates.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and research database systems
Excellent written and spoken English, proficiency in Luganda
Strong communication, organizational and teamwork skills are required. Previous clinical-trial experience is an added advantage.
